Fire Weather Alerts in Effect Amid Drought Concerns

Showers possible overnight, little relief from the extreme drought

A system will bring a few showers to our area tonight through Sunday morning.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The rest of the day will feature a partly to mostly cloudy sky with temperatures in the low to mid 80s. Cloud cover will increase tonight, and it will be mild for this time of year. Low temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s.

A front will bring a few showers to our area overnight tonight through Sunday morning. Activity will not be widespread, and rainfall will be generally under a tenth of an inch.

Behind the front temperatures will be much cooler and breezy on Sunday and going into early next week. Highs on Sunday will be in the 60s with a mostly cloudy sky. Lows Sunday night will be back in the 30s and 40s.

Monday's high temperatures.

Monday will be the coolest day of the week with morning temperatures near 40 degrees and highs only in the low to mid 50s. This is due to a northerly flow bringing cooler air into the area.

Tuesday morning's low temperatures.

Another big story is that a widespread frost/freeze will be likely Tuesday morning. Lows will be in the 20s and 30s. When you factor in the wind, it will feel like 20s for most of the area.

The rest of the upcoming week looks fairly dry thanks to an area of high pressure overhead. Another front could approach our area later in the week, but rainfall accumulation looks minimal and not enough to get us out of the drought
