Jacksonville basks in unseasonable heat with summer-like sunshine through the weekend

Highs in the 80s, dry spell sticks around

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Hey friends, it might be close to Thanksgiving and starting to look a little bit like Christmas, but I’ve gotta tell you—it’s just not going to feel like it at all.

Step outside and it seriously feels like summer!

If you’re thinking about heading to the pool, the beach, or taking a walk, you’ve hit the jackpot. Sunshine will be everywhere, skies will be clear, and it is shaping up to be an absolutely beautiful stretch of weather.

We’re talking temperatures soaring to about 10 to 11 degrees above normal for this time of year. Today is expected to reach into the low to mid-80s, and you’ll feel that same warmth sticking around through the weekend.

Even as we start next week, you may see the numbers dip into the upper 70s, but honestly, you probably won’t notice a big difference.

Drought concerns continue

Now, here’s what you need to know: all of this sunshine and warmth means we’re staying very dry.

Jacksonville and the surrounding areas are under a rainfall deficit.

In fact, this is already the 16th driest November on record for us.

Since the beginning of the year, we’ve received about 40 inches of rain. We should be closer to 49 inches by now, so there’s a real gap.

That high-pressure system you’ll see on our Exact Track 4D radar is locking in the dryness.

Most rain chances will stick to our north. While there may be a slight shot—about 20%—of showers moving into Saturday and Sunday, it’s not expected to be enough to dampen your outdoor plans.

Plan for outdoor fun

It’s a great stretch for getting outside, and I hope you take full advantage! Visibility looks much better than yesterday, so your morning walks, bus stop commutes, or tee times should feel fantastic.

If you’re thinking about walking the dog, playing a little golf, or enjoying some time at the beach or at the pool, it’s going to feel just right—especially around lunchtime or early afternoon, when the sun will be shining the brightest and we’ll likely see highs in the 80s.
