Foggy start and warm finish: Here’s your Tuesday forecast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Good morning! I’m News4JAX’s meteorologist Katie Garner, and I’m glad to be back with you, especially on such a beautiful day.

If you’re heading out early, especially in Macclenny, you’ll likely notice some fog. Our Exact Track 4D radar shows visibility dropping in a few spots – mainly the more rural areas.

If you’re driving, those low-beam headlights are your best friend when it’s foggy. Please keep an eye out for the kids walking to the bus stop around 6 a.m.

Dress warm, afternoon is expected to warm up

Temperatures early today are on the chilly side. We’re seeing 46 degrees at JAX Airport, and it’s 58 degrees in both St. Augustine and Mayport. Personally, I’d grab a coat this morning!

By later in the day, it’s forecast to climb to around 77 degrees for school pick-up or whenever you get done with your day. It’s shaping up to be a great opportunity to get some sunshine – maybe even do your homework outdoors!

Winds are forecast to stay light with only a gentle breeze, and gusts should be down, according to our latest models.

Drought continues, stay cautious outdoors

We’re still under a dry spell and considered to be in a drought right now. While your plans are likely to go off without a hitch, please keep fire safety and other drought precautions in mind.

I’ll update you on any needed precautions as we get more information, so keep checking in with The Weather Authority.

If you spot interesting weather in your area or capture a beautiful morning scene, I’d love to see it! Share your photos with us at SnapJAX.
