This fall, Flagler Beach voters will face a choice on a proposed charter amendment, related to the recent sale of a golf course that had been owned by the city.
In June, the city of Flagler Beach sold the Ocean Palm Golf Course to Ocean Palms Golf Club LLC, which had previously been operating the course for the city. The new owners are planning to expand an existing parking lot, build a new clubhouse, and re-grade the existing golf course. The sale of the property included a deed restriction that the property be used exclusively as a golf course open to the general public, with uses including a clubhouse and clubhouse restaurant.

This proposed amendment would require a unanimous vote from the City Commission in order to change or terminate that deed restriction that preserves the use of the land as a public golf course.
Voters will be asked to vote yes or no based on the following ballot language:

Shall the Flagler Beach Charter be amended to provide that any termination or amendment of the deed restriction related to the sale of the property known as the Ocean Palm Golf Course shall require a unanimous vote of the City Commission?
