According to data from the FDLE, Jacksonville’s murder rate has remained high for years, but 2024 saw a significant drop to 59 murders, arguably a big accomplishment for crime fighting in Jacksonville. News4JAX went beyond the numbers to learn how the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Gang Unit overcame unique challenges to drive down the city's murder rate.
