The organizer of the Strawberry Festival in Clay County responded Monday to backlash over the weekend regarding traffic issues at the event.

After frustrations from both festival attendees and local law enforcement, there was a big push for changes heading into day two.

Traffic congestion marred the Strawberry Festival in Clay County, causing significant delays for attendees. The event, which was held at the Clay County Fairgrounds on State Road 16, saw cars backed up for hours, frustrating many festival-goers and even leading Sheriff Michelle Cook to call it “unacceptable.”

Floridians can head to Plant City to enjoy their fair share of strawberries and live music from Feb. 29 to March 10, 2024.

Festival season continues across the area this upcoming weekend, with the Bradford County Strawberry Festival getting underway this Saturday and Sunday.

The Clay County Agricultural Fair is back after the event was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
