JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eta was barely handing onto tropical storm strength as it was moving over Jacksonville at 10 a.m., according to the National Hurricane Center. As the NHC put the center of the storm 10 miles southwest of Jacksonville and it was moving north-northeast at 15 mph. By 1 p.m., the storm’s sustained winds were down to 40 mph as it was moving off the coast near Fernandina Beach and moving to the north-northeast at 15 mph. By 4 p.m. Eta was 90 miles south-southwest of Charleston, South Carolina. Greater Jacksonville was forecast to see gusts up to 40 mph and bands of tropical rain, but winds nor rainfall didn’t reach near those totals for most of the area.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eta is bringing heavy squalls with tropical-storm-force winds onshore as it tracks northeast across Northeast Florida. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday expanded a state of emergency and asked President Donald Trump for a federal emergency declaration as Tropical Storm Eta prepared to make landfall Thursday. It will be a weak tropical storm or possibly even a depression as it moves across Northeast Florida. About 5 p.m., Clay County District Schools announced all schools and offices within the district will be closed on Thursday, and all after-school activities will be canceled. The Bradford County School District said it is closing schools Thursday due to Eta.

The sites will be federally run and will require patients have an appointment before they can get tested. 3 Federal #COVID19 Drive-Thru Testing Sites to Open in #Jacksonville, FL on Wed, July 8, 2020 for 8 days. Lot J will remain open open daily from 9AM-5PM. The announcement comes as the coronavirus testing site at TIAA Bank Fields Lot J was forcibly closed for weather Sunday.

Dust blown from several freshly plowed fields near Interstate 10 in Madison and Suwanee counties due to Thursday’s gusty winds dropped visibility to near zero and forced the Florida Highway Patrol detour traffic off the highway for hours. I-10 was closed both directions for part of Madison and Suwanne counties between the 263 and 271 mile markers from before noon until 5:15 p.m. Morning Show meteorologist Richard Nunn said the high winds were part of a line of severe storms moving across the state from the west. Sustained wind gusts of 20 mph are expected in the afternoon and gusts could reach 35 mph.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rain, wind, flooding, heat and tornadoes: Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia saw it all in 2019. As 2019 comes to an end, we’re looking back at the weather events that shaped 2019:In April, a round of severe storms across Southeast Georgia produced a tornado that touched down in Camden County. “We did know there was some severe weather but we thought thunderstorms, heavy rain," Thigpen told News4Jax. To round out the year, a round of severe weather in early December produced an EF1 tornado in Flagler County. In early December, a round of severe weather produced an EF1 tornado.

The Coast Guard says the Golden Ray is aground and stable where it sits, however, plans are in the works to make sure the cargo ship is secure ahead of the storm. Authorities said current salvage plans and oil recovery operations are ongoing as responders prepare for the storm and its possible impacts on the Golden Ray. Sullivan said the Coast Guard will be taking steps to ensure the 656-foot Golden Ray does not move from where it is now. Coast Guard members told News4Jax it's looking into placing additional moorings to secure the vessel. News4Jax Meteorologist Richard Nunn said the storm will likely impact the region on Sunday and Monday with winds around 30 mph.

We're starting with one of the breeziest spots in town: the newly opened iFly off Town Center Parkway and St. Johns Bluff Road South. Anchor Jennifer Waugh admitted she was scared at first, but the experience turned out to be a lot of fun. You kind of have this sensation that you want to hold your breath, but then you kind of relax and it's really peaceful, Waugh said. Then it was time to head into the vertical wind tunnel chamber that clocks windspeeds high enough to keep flyers afloat. You're really using all your muscles.For me, it felt like trying to stay afloat on top of waves in the ocean.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On the April 18th edition of Culinary Nunnsense, we pair a chicken rotini dish with some of Richard Nunn's zoodles we demonstrated the previous week. Slice thick chicken breasts width ways from the thick end to the pointy end to make two breast. Using a cutting board, plastic wrap or parchment paper to cover chicken breast and begin pounding with a frying pan or meat tenderizer. Add a spoonful or the stuffing to the now thin breasts, closer to the thick end of the breast. Using both hands, roll the chicken over the stuffing and continue to the pointed end of the breast.
