JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Inspectors issued emergency shutdown orders for two restaurants in Northeast Florida in the past week. Si Senor Fresh Mex on St. Johns Bluff Road got the shutdown orders after Division of Hotel and Restaurants inspectors found the restaurant wasn’t holding food at the right temperature. The inspector also found 30 lives flies in the restaurant’s bar area. Si Senor Fresh Mex corrected enough of the major violations to reopen the next day but required a follow-up inspection. It was a good week for restaurant owners in the Jacksonville-area for the Department of Business and Professional Regulations' food safety inspections. News4Jax pulled inspections from three popular restaurants: Canal St Chicken and Seafood, La Nopalera Mexican Restaurant, and Whitey’s Fish Camp. Canal St. Chicken and SeafoodFood safety inspectors with the Division of Hotels and Restaurants visited Canal St. Chicken and Seafood located at 6651 San Juan Avenue in Jacksonville on July 10. At a follow-up inspection on the July 14, all previous violations had been corrected, except for a manager's certification. At the follow-up inspection, no violations were found redeeming the restaurant with a perfect score.

That’s considered a high priority violation. The inspector issued an emergency closure for the restaurant, but Hibachi Express reopened within a few hours with an immaculate report. The inspector’s report shows 50 rodent droppings were found. The inspector noted, approximately 20 rodent droppings were found on the floor at the bar, 15 rodent droppings were located behind a freezer in the kitchen, 5 rodent droppings were counted by the in mop sink in the closet by the kitchen, and 12 rodent droppings were seen in the closet by the server/drink room. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Inspectors' goal is to ensure your safety by making sure restaurants don't have violations that could make you sick. In this week's Restaurant Report, News4Jax spoke with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to find out what inspectors found that led to area restaurants shutting down. When health inspectors said they found two critical violations at Stan's Sandwich and Grill on Hendricks Avenue, it was immediately ordered to close. Inspectors said they found 22 lives roaches and 20 dead roaches on the kitchen floor. At last check, the business was still closed Monday when inspectors said more roaches were found.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - If you're looking for something good, greasy or just plain gross, we found it all in this week's Restaurant Report. Two restaurants were found with platefuls of violations. At the Crafty Crab on 103rd Street in the Cedar Hills neighborhood of Jacksonville's Westside, according to state regulators' records, nine live roaches were spotted inside the restaurant. After three follow-up inspections, the Crafty Crab fixed all the problems and reopened with a perfect report. More were found throughout the kitchen during each follow-up inspection, according to state records.
