TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Economic Club of Florida was one of just six in the nation that got special treatment from President Donald Trump on Wednesday. The president did a livestreamed Q&A from the Rose Garden after delivering remarks on what he has done for the economy during his first term. In some of his first words, the president predicted economic doom if he’s not reelected. “How can you say, ‘Oh, look, look at how I’ve been able to help the economy bounce back’ as Disney issues a press release saying they are laying off 2,000 employees?” Smith said. “We had close to 2,000 people attend nationwide, but we could have had many more if we had more time,” said Economic Club of Florida Chairwoman Cindy O’Connell.

Barrett would fill the seat vacated after the Sept. 18 death of liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsberg. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Joe Biden campaign was in Jacksonville on Thursday with local leaders to discuss how they feel a Biden and Kamala Harris administration would build a better America. “Black and Brown communities have disproportionately been impacted by the public health and economic crisis caused by his mismanagement," Nixon said. They said systemic racism, racial inequalities and community relations with the police are all key issues this election season. In Duval County, there have protests and conversations about police budgets and Confederate monuments. But Gibson at the President Donald Trump’s event in Jacksonville Thursday night, she doesn’t think he will mention those efforts.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A group of Jacksonville veterans on Wednesday gathered virtually to voice their support for presidential candidate Joe Biden and explain why they would not be voting for Republican President Donald Trump in November. “He supports the troops and knows what it means for someone who has served,” McCain told The Associated Press of Biden in a telephone interview Tuesday. “Not only to love someone who has served but understands what it means to send a child into combat. He will make sure that men and women who fought for this country have someone to fight for them. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The “Women for Trump” bus tour made a stop Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. The tour is showcasing local women’s support for President Donald Trump and helping residents register to vote. The keynote speakers in Jacksonville were Senior Advisors Lara Trump and Katrina Pierson and former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Mayor Lenny Curry and his wife, Molly, spoke before the three prominent Republican women speakers. On Friday the full City Council met to talk about what happened. The council president said the city dodged a bullet. White nationalists and other members of the so-called alt-right have denounced members of Antifa, sometimes calling them the "alt-left." Many white nationalists from the Charlottesville rallies claimed it was the Antifa groups that led the protests to turn violent.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced a new program designed to help struggling farmers while also getting food to those in need. He made the announcement accompanied by his daughter, White House Adviser Ivanka Trump, and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. It’s called the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program, and the president said there’s a total of $19 billion involved, including $16 billion that will go directly to farmers and ranchers affected by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box program joined the effort. It helps small distributors, it helps the small farmers who were prioritized in the bids and, of course, it helps those in need.

If you’re getting money from the federal government as part of the recent stimulus response to the coronavirus, you’ll also get a letter from President Donald Trump explaining why. CNN has obtained a copy of the letter signed by the President and sent to recipients of the stimulus payments. The Treasury Department said Friday more than 88 million people received stimulus payments in the past week. Regarding who decided the method of notice would be a letter from the President, the White House did not provide a comment. The Treasury Department did not immediately return a request for a comment.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has been part of President Donald Trump’s impeachment communications team, will be part of the defense for his Senate trial, according to several Washington, D.C.-based news outlets. Bondi, a former assistant state attorney from Hillsborough County who spent eight years as Florida’s top elected legal official and is a close ally of Trump’s, went to work for the White House in November to represent the president before the media during the House inquiry. Trump’s legal team for the upcoming Senate trial also includes former Harvard University law professor Alan Dershowitz and Kenneth Starr, who was appointed in 1994 to head the Whitewater investigation involving former President Bill Clinton that resulted in Clinton’s impeachment by the House four years later. White House counsel Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, a long-term personal attorney for Trump, are expected to lead the team, according to the news reports. On the other side of the case, Orlando U.S. Rep. Val Demings will serve as one of the House Democratic impeachment managers for the trial, which is expected to start the middle of next week.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – A narrow majority of Floridians oppose the impeachment proceedings into President Donald Trump, according to a Mason-Dixon poll released Wednesday. The survey of 625 registered voters phoned Dec. 11-16 shows that 50% of those polled oppose impeachment while 46% support it and 4% are still undecided. Among North Florida voters, the margin was even greater, with 61% surveyed opposed to impeaching the president with 37% supporting it. The numbers unearthed in the Mason-Dixon poll are similar to recent national polls, which show support for impeachment falling. Half of voters polled statewide do not approve of how the president is doing his job.
