ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A van carrying vacationers returning to Maryland crashed on Interstate 95 in central Florida, killing three of the 11 on board, authorities said. The dead included a 4-year-old girl and her 19-year-old sister from Glenarden, Maryland, Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said in a news release sent late Sunday. A 37-year-old man from Marlboro, Maryland, was found dead under the van, Montes said. A 5-year-old child was airlifted to a hospital in Orlando and was reported to be in stable condition, Montes said. Three were in critical condition, and the others, including the driver, were in stable condition, Montes said.

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A 7-year-old boy drowned while swimming with his grandfather in the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The man and two children went into the water near Ormond Beach about 1 p.m. Saturday, Volusia County Beach Safety officials said in a news release. A beachgoer heard the child's grandmother standing on the beach yelling for help and called Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue. Authorities pulled the unresponsive boy from the water and began CPR, a news release said. The child was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the release said.

Dorian, once expected to make landfall along the Florida coast as a Category 4 storm, is currently predicted to turn(CNN) - Hurricane Dorian will move "dangerously close" to Florida overnight Tuesday, but the Category 2 storm is not currently expected to make landfall in the US over the next few days. Hurricane Dorian decreased to a Category 2 storm with 110 mph maximum sustained winds, according to the National Hurricane Center's 11 a.m. advisory. Hurricane Dorian is about 105 miles east of Fort Pierce and is moving to the northwest at about 2 mph. The slow speed of the storm meant that Florida residents have been hunkered down in anticipation of the storm for almost a week now.
