A newly filed amendment in the Florida Legislature could reshape the state’s approach to honoring Black history.

The first Black history museum to call Florida its home is closer to becoming a reality in St. Johns County.

Dozens of St. Johns County residents headed to Tallahassee in support of building the Florida Museum of Black History in St. Augustine didn’t get very far Friday morning before they had an unexpected detour.

Community members will follow the group involved with the proposal to Tallahassee as they answer additional questions the Florida Museum of Black History Task Force has.
