Survivors and family members of the Pulse nightclub massacre nine years ago are getting a chance to walk through the long-shuttered, gay-friendly venue this week.

Some of those who survived mass shootings have made it their mission to stop another violent incident from happening.

Sunday at noon, amid days of events in observance of the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub on June 12, 2016, each of the 49 victims killed in the attack were recognized with the somber tolling of a bell at the First United Methodist Church of Orlando, News4JAX sister station WKMG in Orlando reported.

The 49 people killed in a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Florida have been honored in Orlando and around the world on the fifth anniversary of the attack.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The local LGBTQ community reacted swiftly Saturday after news broke that Joe Biden was now the president-elect. “I feel a combination of relief, joy and gratitude,” said Brandon Wolf, media relations manager for Equality Florida, the state’s largest network of advocacy organizations aimed at securing full equality for Florida’s LGBTQ community.
