Sophia Vitello joined the News4Jax team in September 2025. She prides herself on representing the voiceless, the overlooked, and the underloved, after growing up in a home riddled with drugs. Sophia's reporting at Channel 4 helped raise nearly $20,000 for a single mom and her two young children after losing their apartment to an electrical fire, and her multi-series stories on their struggle helped her track down a house for the family, successfully getting them off the street three weeks after meeting them. Sophia started her news career at ABC7 Sarasota. During her time there, she helped an elderly community have their power restored through government officials two weeks after devastating hurricanes and negligence from property management. She also connected hundreds of hurricane victims to donations, funding, and resources through live calls to action. Sophia is married to a BM2 in the Coast Guard, who, while stationed at Naval Station Mayport, assisted in the interdiction of over 150 million dollars worth of illegal narcotics from drug runners in the Caribbean Sea. Sophia graduated from the University of Miami with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Creative Writing. In her free time, Sophia loves to read the Bible, soak up the sun, and play with her doggies Loki & Violet!
