“Traveling alone as a woman can be empowering and exciting, yet there is a certain level of risk that comes with traveling alone,” said Debbie Haas, Vice President of Travel for AAA. “We want to equip travelers with resources, such as guided vacations, and advice so they can safely and confidently travel and explore new destinations and experiences.”

AAA worked with the Sister Accord Foundation to create the “Safety in Sisterhood” travel tips to empower women and girls through education and leadership.

These insights, along with AAA’s travel expertise and offerings, were the foundation for this partnership and tool, which includes:

  • Tips for women to stay safe while in a hotel
  • Accessibility and safety tips for travelers
  • Apps and tools that serve as resources for women travelers
  • Car rental tips for solo travelers
  • Tips for first-time travelers and international travelers

These resources can be accessed here.

“Our goal is to empower women to expand their horizons when it comes to travel,” said Sonia Jackson Myles, CEO and Founder of the Sister Accord Foundation. “By educating them on how to research and book a hotel, rental car and using a AAA Travel Agent, they will be more confident and comfortable while traveling.”
