NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis awarded on Tuesday $20 million in grants to support water quality improvement projects in Biscayne Bay.
During a news conference in North Miami Beach, DeSantis said the grants will help fund a total of eight projects, including six new projects and supplemental funding for two existing and expanding projects.
“These projects include septic to sewer conversion, wastewater storage projects that will lead to improved water quality of Biscayne Bay,” DeSantis said.

The grant recipients include Miami-Dade County, the town of Cutler Bay, Miami Shores Village, and more.
With these awards, the state has reached a milestone of $100 million awarded for Biscayne Bay restoration efforts.
“What we’ve already done has made a difference,” DeSantis said. " But we’re not done, and we’re going to continue to do that."
DeSantis also said the state will be awarding $9.5 million in grants for Florida’s coral reef restoration and recovery initiative.
