Neighbors on Yellowtail Ct. in Yulee can now return home as deputies clear scene of suspected unexploded grenade

YULEE, Fla. – Neighbors in the area of Yellowtail Court in Yulee were told they could return to their homes after being evacuated Monday morning while deputies investigated what appeared to be an unexploded grenade, according to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

“The situation is under control and first responders are now clearing the area,” the NCSO wrote in a Facebook post at 10:30 a.m.

Around 9 a.m., NCSO said there was a heavy law enforcement presence on Yellowtail Court as deputies investigated a possible unexploded grenade.

“This is just a precautionary measure, and there is no immediate threat to the surrounding area,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.

Deputies said the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called to assist.
