Suspect who fled from traffic stop, led high-speed chase down International Golf Parkway is in custody, SJSO says

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect who fled from a traffic stop on US-1 near Abbotts Way on Thursday is in custody.

The sheriff’s office said Tomal Bowe, 33, fled on foot, stole a van and fled at a high speed down International Golf Parkway towards US-1. The suspect left the vehicle on US-1 near Abbotts Way.

Tomal Bowe, 33, is charged with Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Grand Theft Auto, Resisting without Violence, Possession of Marijuana, and multiple out of county warrants. (Copyright 2025 by WJXT News4JAX - All rights reserved.)

The incident created traffic backups on I-95 South.

A viewer submitted a video that shows some of the chase.

Multiple air and K-9 units were on scene tracking Bowie through a heavily wooded and marshy area.

The sheriff’s office said Bowie is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, grand theft auto, resisting without violence, possession of marijuana and multiple out-of-county warrants.
