Man in serious condition after fight ends in shooting at his girlfriend’s home on Jacksonville’s Northside: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was transported to a hospital with serious injuries after being shot Tuesday night on Jacksonville’s Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said the shooting happened around 11:35 p.m. outside a home on Kirk Road, near North Main Street.

According to police, a man in his late 20s was at his girlfriend’s home when two men arrived.

The man in his late 20s got into an argument with one of the men, which then turned into a physical fight, police said. At some point during the fight, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot at the victim twice in the chest and leg.

The man was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition, JSO said.

According to police, the suspect and the other man left the scene, possibly leaving in a white Volkswagen Jetta with no hubcaps and black tires.

Police said there was another witness who was present during the incident and was being questioned by detectives.

Officers were also in the process of looking for surveillance video.

“All the people involved in this incident are believed to know each other. We believe this to be an isolated incident,” Sergeant Johnson said.
