Lots full, deals on tap: Jacksonville shoppers soak up Black Friday at St. Johns Town Center

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Packed parking lots, early doorbusters and shoppers hunting for the best deals — that was the scene at St. Johns Town Center on Black Friday.

News4JAX Reporter Briana Brownlee went to the Town Center on Friday morning and spoke with shoppers, some of whom said Black Friday shopping is more than just scoring good deals.

Even though in this digital age, a lot of people don’t hit the stores in person anymore, many shoppers told News4JAX that Black Friday is all about getting out, being together, and soaking in the experience.

One mother and daughter said they’re spending this Black Friday having some girl time.

They’ve lived in Jacksonville for a decade, but this is their first Black Friday at the Town Center — and they say this might become a new family tradition.

“Being out here and just seeing everything in person, feeling the product — I feel it’s a better feel when you see the actual product in hand," Carlyon Brown said.

Dylan Brown, Carlyon’s daughter, said it’s all about having a fun experience.

“It’s always fun to have the experience with her because I feel like growing up with her is really nice, and having the time to be with her is great,” Dylan Brown said.

The St. Johns Town Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday.
