Weekend shootings in Jacksonville leave one dead, two injured

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In a violent weekend across Jacksonville, one person was killed and two others were injured in separate shootings, prompting ongoing investigations.

On Sunday at 5:13 a.m., JSO responded to a shooting at 600 Cesery Blvd. and found a man in his early 20s suffering a gunshot wound to the calf.

He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The investigation revealed that he had been involved in a confrontation earlier on Mills Creek Road.

“The victim and witnesses were not able to provide a good description for the suspect vehicles and unable to provide any suspect information,” JSO said.

The second shooting occurred Saturday night around 8:40 p.m. at a Burger King on Blanding Boulevard near Collins Road.

JSO reported officers found two people shot. Medical aid was provided on scene, but one victim died from their injuries. The second victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Multiple people have been detained and are being interviewed by detectives to learn more about what led to the incident, as well as any involvement,” JSO said.

The investigation involves the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, the State Attorney’s Office, and the Medical Examiner’s Office, with the incident classification pending.
