Officers said they saw a black Ford F-150 leaving the school parking lot with no headlights on, so they pulled the truck over.
The driver showed obvious signs of impairment, admitted to drinking, had trouble providing his documents, and refused both field sobriety exercises and breath testing, police said.
While talking with the driver, officers spotted damage to the school’s gate that matched damage on the truck, and the school principal confirmed the damage to the gate was new.
The man’s truck was towed, and during the inventory, officers found a mostly empty 12-pack of beer inside.
The man was charged with school trespass, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, refusal to submit to a DUI test and DUI.
The news release from LCPD did not indicate the cost of the damage to the school’s gate.
