JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville, Fla. — Perrin Todd, a local animal advocate, is asking for the community’s help after she found a severely emaciated Great Dane curled up on the side of the road in Duval County.

The dog’s heartbreaking condition sparked an outpouring of support on social media, with many people begging for someone to step in and help.

When Perrin saw the dog, named Miracle, she didn’t hesitate. She says she and another Good Samaritan carefully lifted him onto a sheet, put him in a car, and rushed him to an emergency vet. Sadly, despite their efforts, Miracle was too far gone and passed away surrounded by caring staff.

Animal Care and Protective Services says the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case. They believe Miracle may be connected to several addresses in the area.

ACPS is urging anyone with information about Miracle’s owner or how he ended up like this to come forward and contact the sheriff’s office.

Perrin teamed up with First Coast Crime Stoppers to offer a cash reward for any information that could help hold someone accountable. She put up $5,000 herself, and First Coast Crime Stoppers added $3,000, making the total reward $8,000.

Chase Robinson, executive director of First Coast Crime Stoppers, stressed how important it is that people can share tips anonymously. “Crime Stoppers lets you do the right thing and stay anonymous. We have ways to protect your identity so law enforcement won’t know who you are. That’s not just a promise—it’s the law here in Florida.”

Perrin said, “Miracle was gentle. He looked at me like he wanted to be helped and saved. Unfortunately, someone let him down a long time ago.”

Robinson says tips are already coming in as the sheriff’s office investigates this as a felony animal cruelty case.
