ACPS said the emergency on-call officer quickly arrived and met the person who had picked up the dog. They rushed him to the shelter for urgent veterinary care and launched a cruelty investigation. The dog was named Miracle.

Despite the team’s best efforts, Miracle was too far gone when he arrived. He passed away surrounded by staff who had grown attached during his care.

According to ACPS, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case. Authorities believe Miracle may be linked to several addresses in the area, including 32244 Townsend, 32210 near 103rd and Timuquana, 32277 Edenfield Road, and the W. 45th area in 32208.

Animal Care and Protective Services is urging anyone with information about Miracle’s owner or how he ended up in this condition to come forward and contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

ACPS said even small details can help bring accountability for this cruelty.
