Voices of the 904 Ep 4: Vintage fashionista brings confidence & elegance to Duval’s fashion scene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Enricka “Rik” James, a vintage fashion stylist and founder of Six in the City, trails her fingers across a rack of thrifted treasures.

As she moves through the aisles, a single look at just the sleeve of a blazer or a shirt is all she needs to know if it’s destined for her vintage wardrobe.

“There are a lot of hidden gems when it comes to thrifting,” Rik said. “You don’t have to go in there looking for a certain niche of clothing. It’s whatever catches your eye.”

EPISODE 3 | Meet Carlos Foster - How a single sketch turned into an ’89 Los Way’ streetwear statement

On this episode of “Voices of the 904,” we sit down at Vintage Exchange in Murray Hill to focus on Jacksonville’s elevating fashion scene, how Rik’s self-love journey and motherhood shaped her signature style and of course, the introduction of the inaugural Duval Ball — a Met Gala-inspired night dedicated to fashion and art.

Tickets are still available for The Duval Ball on Saturday, Nov. 1, at The Jessie on 40 East Adams Street.

Get yours now at eventbrite.com, and don’t forget your tux or gown.

Proceeds from the gala will also benefit two local schools that support the arts and early education.
