All roads in St. Augustine now open after some closures due to flooding

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – All roads in St. Augustine are now open after some were closed due to flooding, the St. Augustine Police Department said.

Driving access to county beaches remains unavailable due to impacts from this nor’easter.

Projections from the National Weather Service had high tide nearly three feet above normally dry ground, which is why they warned about coastal flooding.

Several area agencies warned of the dangers just a bit inland.

King Street, Bridge Street and several others were closed and cars could be seen completely covered by water.

The roads are cleared of water now, but the storm drains were filled to the brim. Manhole covers were being pushed up by the pressure with water spewing out.

Area officials continue to warn about intermittent flooding and road closures in flood-prone areas.

The advice is to “Turn around, don’t drown.”
