Motorcyclist dies after hitting SUV that made U-turn into his path on Atlantic Boulevard: FHP

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 44-year-old motorcyclist died Saturday after a crash with an SUV on Atlantic Boulevard that had eastbound lanes shut down for hours.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, the motorcyclist was headed east on Atlantic Boulevard in the left lane, approaching Hawaii Drive, which is less than a mile east of I-295.

Troopers said a 64-year-old woman driving an SUV was headed west on Atlantic Boulevard at the same time, and tried to make a U-turn across the eastbound lanes at Hawaii Drive.

The SUV crossed the motorcyclist’s path, and the front of the motorcycle hit the right side of the SUV, FHP said.
