CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A man who was in the custody of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office died Wednesday morning after appearing “ill and unresponsive,” according to CCSO.
CCSO said around 9 a.m. detention deputies were alerted by inmates that 20-year-old Jarel Walker-Webb appeared ill and unresponsive.

Deputies responded to the medical emergency and performed lifesaving measures on Walker-Webb until they were relieved by Fire and Rescue personnel, CCSO said. All efforts were unsuccessful.

The cause of death is unknown and there were no obvious signs of trauma, according to CCSO.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was notified and will be the primary investigating agency in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office.
