Passion 4 Pets: Spotlight on Swamp Haven in Saint Augustine

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Today, pets took center stage as part of our Passion 4 Pets Adoption Event, spotlighting adoptable animals in our community who are looking for their forever homes.

Among the standouts is a special pup named Brenda from Swamp Haven in Saint Augustine—a true survivor with a heart full of love.

Meet Brenda: A Fighter with a Gentle Soul

Brenda isn’t just any dog—she’s a cancer survivor. Rescued by Swamp Haven after their partner shelter discovered concerning masses on her body, Brenda’s future was uncertain. But thanks to the love and determination of the Swamp Haven team, including Chelsea Fisher and Tori Christensen, she was given a fighting chance.

“We love our medical cases,” said the team. “We’re small enough to take the time these dogs need. After meeting Brenda, we knew she was coming with us—no matter what the diagnosis.”

Following surgery and a series of tests, Brenda was officially declared cancer-free. Now, she’s ready to begin a new chapter with a family who will give her the love she so richly deserves.

A Perfect Companion

Brenda is the definition of a laid-back, affectionate companion. She loves to relax, cuddle on the couch, and maybe binge a little Netflix. Her food motivation makes her easy to train, and her serene energy makes her a joy to be around. As her rescuers say, “She just seems grateful for every day.”

One look into Brenda’s soulful brown eyes, and it’s hard not to fall in love.

Other Pups Looking for Homes

  • French Toast: Rescued alongside Mimosa, this pup is just as sweet as his name. The two are affectionately known as the “Brunch Babes.”
