JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After just more than two years in business, coastal-themed Plenti in Jacksonville’s Riverside neighborhood is shutting its doors. Owner and Founder Dean Nixon announced the closing on Tuesday on social media.

On social media, Nixon said, “The concept may not be gone forever, but our location in Riverside will be.” He also said there isn’t one particular reason for the closure, but cited a combination of “increasing labor costs, decreasing quality of restaurant labor, extremely volatile food costs, expensive rent”, and other factors as the reason for the closure.
News4JAX spoke with Nixon after the announcement. Nixon said the continuation of Plenti “doesn’t make economic sense” and it was “time to move on.” Nixon said this is “the end [of Plenti] for now.” Nixon clarified he will be stepping away from the business but will be looking to hand over control of Plenti so the concept of Plenti continues.
The restaurant located at 200 Riverside Ave held its grand opening March 30, 2023, and has since offered a menu of Poke, bowls, salads, smoothies, meal prep, and catering to the Jacksonville community. Nixon said Plenti is the “culmination of things [he] was struggling or could not find in a fast, affordable, and healthy setting.” He opened Plenti so people can “live a busy life and not have to sacrifice their diet.”
In Nov. 2024, the restaurant became a Blue Zones Approved restaurant by Blue Zones Project Jacksonville, meaning the restaurant provides accessible healthy choices.
As for Nixon, he is taking some time away for self-reflection. He said he enjoyed meeting the great customers who came by and supported the restaurant. Nixon encouraged anyone to come by Plenti and support. He also encouraged anyone to reach out to him as a resource if they’re interested in getting into the restaurant business.
The last day of operation for Plenti is Friday. The restaurant is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
