Police arrest 3 middle school students over threats made online
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Three students at a South Florida junior high school have been arrested and charged with making threats on social media to shoot up their school, officials said.
Pembroke Pines police arrested the three Silver Trail Middle School students on Sunday, according to a police news release. Officials identified the students as two boys and one girl, all 12 years old.
Investigators located the students after a school staff member notified police about a Snapchat conversation that contained threatening messages concerning the school.
All three students were charged with a making a written threat to do bodily harm or commit an act of terrorism, and the girl received an additional charge of conspiracy to commit a criminal offense.
