ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – St. Augustine is one of my favorite north Florida cities and has been for many years.
My memories of St. Augustine and St. Johns County go back to my childhood.
My parents favored the off-season for travel, and this often found us in popular spots with very few people. On one of these trips, we got a behind-the-scenes look at the Castillo de San Marcos, which led to us firing a cannon…allegedly.
I remember when you could turn right at the Fort Matanzas Beach Drive Access and hide under the bridge before EZ-UP tents.
Thanks to my hobbies of running, cycling and riding motorcycles, I have gotten to know the county backroads intimately.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse has been my beacon for runs and rides, and it’s been a place I’ve wanted to explore ever since I saw that famous episode of TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), aka Ghost Hunters, around 2006 to 2008, and then again in 2019.
To be a part of a paranormal investigation at the St. Augustine Lighthouse has been a bucket list item since, and with the help of some coworkers, we got to make that happen.
