Jacksonville’s local LGBTQ+ community and its allies have been celebrating Pride Month all through June, and next weekend the annual “Big Gay Picnic” returns to Willowbranch Park in Riverside.
The family and pet-friendly event, hosted by the Jacksonville LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the AIDS Memorial Project AMP, celebrates community and inclusivity.

This year’s free event will be from 12-5 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the park, which holds historic significance as the site of Jacksonville’s first gay pride event.
Free vendor spots are also available for local businesses and organizations interested in participating. To reserve a vendor spot, you can email info@jaxlgbtchamber.org.
Face painting for children (and kids-at-heart) will be provided, along with free hamburgers and hot dogs while supplies last.
Everyone is encouraged to bring picnic baskets, beach umbrellas, sunscreen, blankets, friends, kids, and family to make the most of the afternoon as the Big Gay Picnic aims to bring together people from all walks of life for a day of fun, food, and fellowship.
