JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – News4JAX is celebrating the resiliency and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander Americans all month long.
We’re shining the spotlight on Kie Young, president of the Japanese Association of Jacksonville. She’s also a member of the Mayor’s Asian American Advisory Board.
Young is a substitute teacher for Duval County Public Schools, a certified health education specialist and a freelance translator.
Besides the U.S. and Japan, Young has lived in Singapore, Taiwan and Ireland.
She has roots in civil service, with her grandfather being a former councilor in Tokyo.
According to her biography on the city of Jacksonville’s website, she champions wellness and enjoys traveling, volunteering, jogging, and yoga.
