JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Saturday’s 99°F was the hottest day of 2025, so far. Today, we are likely to close in on, if not surpass, that hot high. For the record, the record high for July 20 is 103°F, from 2000. Some spots across our region could see triple-digit temperatures Sunday afternoon.
Another scorcher is on tap for Sunday, with the heat advisory going into effect at 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. All of our southeast Georgia and northeast Florida counties are included in the heat advisory.
There’s an opportunity for late afternoon storms to develop in our southern counties: Putnam, St. Johns, northern Flagler, as the heat of the day rises along the sea breeze convergence.
As the drier air moves out Sunday into Monday, our rainy summer pattern returns, along with highs in the 90s and sea breeze mergers. Strong storms can develop, bringing hazards of heavy rains, frequent lightning, and damaging winds. This pattern will continue through the week, allowing temperatures to return to normal (low 90s).
