JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars are in the dealing mood.

The Jaguars traded left tackle Cam Robinson to the Vikings on Tuesday night, clearing the way for Walker Little to take over that spot as the team begins to think about the future in the face of a massively disappointing season.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport later added the terms of the deal were Robinson and a conditional seventh-round pick that may not convey depending on playing time for a conditional fifth-round pick that could become a fourth rounder based on playing time.

The move comes a week before the NFL trade deadline and signals that the Jaguars are looking at the future a bit harder now. At 2-6, Jacksonville’s season is unlikely to result in a trip to the playoffs. The team has already traded defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seahawks this month. It lost receiver Christian Kirk to a season-ending broken collarbone and has been ravaged by injuries. Earlier Tuesday, the team signed Velus Jones Jr. to the practice squad and called offensive lineman Blake Hance up.

Jones could see action as Parker Washington replaces Kirk in the lineup and return specialist Devin Duvernay remains on the injured list. Washington has been utilized as a return man this season and returned a punt for a touchdown against the Patriots in London.

For Robinson, it’s the end of his time in Jacksonville.

Robinson, 29, was a second-round pick by the team in 2017 and has held the left tackle spot since then with a few exceptions.

He missed all but two games of his second season with a torn ACL and also missed a large portion of 2023 after a four-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs and also injury. Robinson went in the concussion protocol after the Week 7 game and spent Week 8′s loss to the Packers as a backup. Robinson is set to be a free agent next year so the Jaguars managed to get something in return for a player they likely wouldn’t have brought back.

It opens the door to potentially have Anton Harrison shift to the left side or see how Little performs in an audition in that role this year. Little is in the final year of his rookie contract and could be in line for a lucrative extension with a solid showing in the final nine games.
