JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released body cam footage of an officer-involved shooting involving a man accused of fleeing a traffic stop and accelerating his vehicle toward an officer.
On Jan. 30, JSO said Officer Hackley saw Michael Youmans, 29, driving a silver Impala near North Main Street and Pecan Park Road with what appeared to be illegal window tint.
Hackley also noticed that the tag lights weren’t working and went to pull over the vehicle.
Before Hackley could speak with Youmans, JSO said he drove away. Hackley and other officers attempted to locate Youmans that night but couldn’t find him.
On Feb. 11, officers saw Youmans' car on Max Leggett Parkway and planned to pull him over for leaving the previous traffic stop.

Sgt. McEwen found Youman backed into a driveway at a residence on Gossett Street.
As Youmans sat inside the vehicle, McEwen pulled his patrol vehicle in front of Youmans' vehicle and commanded him to show his hands.
“Show me your [expletive] hands,” McEwen yelled. “Hands outside the door!”
As Youmans' put the car in reverse, McEwen issued a warning.
“Don’t you [expletive] do it!”
The video shows Youmans accelerate toward the officer as McEwen backed up and started shooting at the vehicle.
“Stop! Stop!” he yelled before firing at least eight shots.
The vehicle stopped a few feet from the McEwan before veering into a fence.
“Show me your hands! Crawl out!” McEwen commanded.
Youmans opened the door and crawled out of the car covered in blood, screaming, “I’m hit! I’m hit! Bro, I’m going to die.”
He was taken to hospital where he was in stable condition.
JSO searched the car and found drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and MDMA.
Youmans faces multiple felonies including fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer for the January traffic stop and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, trafficking MDMA and possession of cocaine from the February incident.
According to JSO, Youmans has a lengthy criminal history that includes 13 pages of theft, drug arrests, resisting with and without violence, burglary and more.
The investigation is ongoing.
