Woman killed in early morning crash on Philips Highway

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, one person is dead after a crash on Philips Highway at Gran Bay Parkway.

FHP said it happened around 3 a.m. Saturday near State Road 9B. According to officials, a 60-year-old man was driving north on U.S. Highway 1 when he hit two other cars that were turning left from State Road 9B onto US 1.

All cars came to a final stop in the intersection.

A 22-year-old woman driving one of the cars that was hit died at a hospital from her injuries. The other driver, a 19-year-old woman, and her 20-year-old female passenger had only minor injuries. The 60-year-old man had serious injuries.

FHP no longer releases names of people involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.

The intersection is blocked off. Officials have not said when it will reopen.
