JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Pizza is one of those foods that can be eaten wherever and whenever, but when you’re in the mood for the perfect slice, or trying to show off your city’s food abilities to your friends who are in town for the weekend, where do you go?
Well, the people of Jacksonville have made their voices heard, and the JAXBest 2025 winner for the area’s best pizza is Moon River Pizza!

With locations in Jacksonville’s Murray Hill neighborhood at 1176 Edgewood Ave. S and in Fernandina Beach at 925 S. 14th St., Moon River Pizza describes itself as a “funky pizzeria offering custom & specialty thin-crust pies plus wine & beer in colorful surroundings.”
According to its Facebook page, both locations are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and are closed on Sundays.
Moon River Pizza’s menu features beer, wine and pizzas “made the traditional way,” which it says includes fresh dough, tomato sauce “spiked” with Italian seasonings and topped with freshly grated mozzarella cheese.
Patrons also have a plethora of toppings to choose from, ranging from classics like pepperoni, pineapple (save the debates for another time), and bacon to not-so-popular items like vegan sausage, broccoli, and breaded eggplant.
Moon River Pizza took home top marks for best pizza over fellow finalists Joseph’s Pizza, Planet Pizza 904 and Renna’s.
