Recognizing the past, looking to the future: News4JAX celebrates Black History Month
BMH 2026 16x9 (WJXT)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This February, News4JAX is taking a moment to recognize local history that laid the foundation and shaped a legacy that is still unfolding before us.
As this year marks 100 years of national Black history commemorations, we reflect on a century of resilience, tradition and action.
We’re proud to celebrate the many contributions of this community by telling the stories of trailblazers who changed history, while also recognizing fresh faces making a difference through leadership, creativity, and community impact.
Ways to join the celebration:
Take a local tour or visit a museum to learn about Black history
Support a Black-owned business
Attend a Black History Month event
Read books or stories written by Black authors
Volunteer with organizations serving Black communities
Watch movies and documentaries created by Black filmmakers
Join us as we reflect on the past, looking into the future all month long.
